Phung Truong, founded #BOSSMEUP in 2020 after achieving her #CAREERGOALS before reaching age thirty. Phung has worked in executive leadership roles for companies: Stadium Goods, Chloe, Valentino, & alice+olivia. She started her career in retail sales, as a sales associate, and under a decade’s time, has worked her way up to executive management (most recently Vice President of Retail & Geographic Expansion, overseeing Retail Growth strategy for Stadium Goods (a Farfetch company)).

Phung’s passion has always been training & development. She has spearheaded training programs for alice+olivia & REDValentino, which she found to be the most rewarding. She recognized that most employees were eager to learn, but they didn’t always have the best manager to teach them. A lot of employees were eager to grow in their careers, but they didn’t always have the skill set or tools to succeed. Her mission is to provide that guidance & resources to those eager to excel in their careers.

Phung attributes her success to quality mentorship that helped her strengthen her skill sets early in her career. Combined with hard work & determination, Phung was able to catapult her career in the direction she always dreamed. She is determined to share her learnings with a community that’s eager to learn.

“A dream is just a dream, if you don’t pave a path to get there.”

A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER

DEAR FELLOW BOSSES,

I call you “Bosses” because a Boss, by definition, is someone in charge, someone domineering, someone who displays excellence & supreme confidence.

I always dreamed of being a “Boss” when I grew up. The term was always associated with power, respect, & success. I was raised first-generation Vietnamese-American. My parents immigrated to the United States when I was 2 years old. I was raised in Southampton, NY, where I learned first hand that classism exists & that there is much wealth & knowledge to be acquired in this world. Through my upbringing, I chased financial security & a continuous yearning for what I envisioned to be a “better life.” I started working when I was 12 years old & have never stopped working a single day in my life. My parents bred work ethic into my core, which I attribute to my success at a young age.

I dreamt of “Becoming a Boss.” The dream was to be independent, self-confident, a step ahead of everybody, wise, intuitive, emotionally intelligent. The aspiration was to be influential, to be memorable, to have the ability to change lives. I wanted to inspire. I wanted to leave impact, outside of just a title. Being a Boss was not about having direct reports; it was about being in control of my career & of my life. It was being able to have vision & execute; it was being able to say, “I deserve more,” & actually go out and obtain more; it was about having a dream & being able to turn it into a reality. A dream is just a dream, if you don’t pave a path to get there. I was extremely fortunate to have "Bosses” before me, who served as inspiration, mentors, and coaches. I admired each and every single one of them in different ways and it is they who invested in my potential. They instilled confidence in me, which allowed me to have confidence in myself, pushing me to continue down my path to “Becoming a Boss.” These “Bosses” were not always my direct supervisor; sometimes, they were a few levels above me, sometimes, they were my peers; they were people who shared wisdom and tips that I could apply in life, & I absorbed every ounce.

#BOSSMEUP is the fruition of my dream to be able to impact the lives of many others who also have a dream, but may need some uplifting support & guidance to cross the finish line. #BOSSMEUP is my mission to provide community, as I greatly believe that we rise by lifting others. #BOSSMEUP is my source of inspiration, in the hopes that I inspire just one person daily. #BOSSMEUP is my passion to share my experiences & expertise, through coaching, consulting, & mentorship. As I strive to stay bossy, I hope that you join me in this journey to level up your life, achieve your dreams, and become the best version of you possible. We all have our individual paths, but through #BOSSMEUP, I hope that we can cross paths to fulfill a greater purpose together, full of inspiration, motivation, & continued education.

Are you ready to Boss Up?
